Simcoe Stakes
$200.000 ON Bred Stake 6 1/2 Furlongs on Dirt for Two Year Olds
The Simcoe Stakes at WO on Wednesday night drew a field of six two year olds but saw that field reduced down to five with the late scratch of the six horse Catch Fire leaving us with a solid field of five.
When the gates flew open it was Bag Of Bones from post four who went to the front early. He was able to clear the field down the backstretch giving him the ideal rail position headed into the far turn. A couple lengths off that lead laid Massachusetts with Black Mackee just to the inside of him and Senator a few lengths off them with Unsuited Invader trailing the field.
Turning for home Bag Of Bones still held that few length lead but from well back Senator was starting to make his move along with Massachusetts. As they hit the final half furlong those three would be nose to nose with Senator swinging widest of all and getting a nose in front of Massachusetts at the line and Bag Of Bones holding on to third.
Congratulations to the winning stable, Glorify Stables and their talented two year old Senator who stopped the clock in 1:16.09.
