Only one win from this one in the ’15 season but he’s only been off the board in one of eight starts and even that lead to a fourth place finish vs. graded horses. He’s a couple of lengths from having one heck of a year, but isn’t that the story here at HRP? Is this the place where he breaks through and gets the job done? Many questions – answers soon.
DH’ed for the win at BEL last out while facing OptAlw types and that was his first win of the year. He was second vs. similar at SAR back in Aug, so this certainly is within his reach. Runs well with a big of a gap between races so things look to be right on target for him in this one.
Took down $20.000 claimers on the other side of I95 in his most recent and that’s the price that they took him for three starts back. He’s been on the board in seven of his ten seasonal starts, but this is an obvious step up in class and I just don’t have enough of a warm and fuzzy feeling to jump on his wagon here today.
Tried badly in the Hirsch Turf Classic (GI) in his most recent. That was a marathon race and seems to be more to his liking than this mile-like race. He’s been off for a while getting a freshening and shows a nice string of works, with some bullets in the mix. He has tactical speed and may try to run off and hide.
Well he certainly has a champion type name (6 time champs, may I add) but his sophomore season has been more like a start by Landry Jones. No wins so far and a pair of second place finishes since being sold for $275.000 back in April. I just can’t see him winning this one.
Here’s another that’s only a couple of jumps from having a heck of a season, but only has the one win. The good news is that is was here at GP and it was over the inner course, so this may be a great spot for him. Beaten as the odd-on favorite at KEE last out… I’m just not sure.
Looks like he’s going to be my choice here today, despite the outside post position. He’s won half of his eight ’15 starts, and seems to have a tendency to win every other race – and that’s right, this is the win side of things. Won on the SAR inner turf, which is another good sign, and has certainly come a long way since being tagged for a measly $7.500 back in July.
