1 Superface Party Mb Stables Gutierrez Mario 123 —

The two times recently that this four-year-old has gone over longer trips she has gone on speed and found it tough late, so her ability to see these 12 furlongs out must be questioned. She was good in the Gamely over nine furlongs but again was a bit one paced late which could mean she is just one paced or it could mean she will benefit from restraint. If anyone knows how to get a horse to win a race it is this trainer, so I am sure she will run a big race.

2 Nijinsky Team 7 Illusions Lezcano J 123 —

The five-year-old has always been competitive in this grade but does find it hard to win. She loves these marathon trips and looking at her form and running style may be better coming from off the pace which could suit in this smaller field. She ran well when second in the Keerta last time and gets Lezcano on board again, so I expect her to be hitting the line hard late on.

3 Techfluence High The Sidley Stud Vazquez R A 123 —

She was in great form early in the year taking the Santa Ana and the Modesty but her form hasn’t been so good in the last couple of runs, so she needs to come back to her best today. The trip won’t be a problem, and she certainly has the performance to take this at her best, so I would be happy to tip her as a likely winner.

4 November Storm Mb Stables Franco M 123 —

She seemed a bit lost early in the year being beaten at TAM and TUP in overnights and it seemed she had lost some interest in racing. However after being beaten at TUP on the dirt, she went to the Sheepshead Bay where she ran right back to her form with a strong second. Last time out she confirmed she was back with a comfortable win in the Possibly Perfect Stakes over this trip, so she will be a lot of people’s choice as the winner.

5 Be Exceptional TwinTowersRacing Geroux F 123 —

Going well this year apart from a poor effort on an off-track last time she is certainly right in this. Wins in the La Prevoyante Handicap and Bewitch both at this trip suggest she is on song and as long as it stays dry, she should be highly competitive.

6 Exulted Rene TwinTowersRacing Hernandez R M 123 —

She showed in the JC Oaks that she has the class to win this, but her form has been a bit in and out since and whilst she is certainly a chance it is difficult to compare her to some of the more accomplished in the field.

7 Engine Night Rider Stables Beschizza A 123 —

Her works are right on the mark, but her form leaves a little bit of a question mark. Her best chance seems to come from her good second in the Possibly Perfect last time beaten less than a length by November Storm so is the seventh of seven-winning chance in a very close field.

SUMMARY

This is a real tough race to call. There are a couple like Be Exceptional and Techfluence High that I like but it is hard to be confident with five very closely matched rivals including an Mb pair.
