Hooper – Grade III
1 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Sexy Back Night Rider Stables Zayas E J
It seemed like leading and not being challenged was the way to win today as this race looked almost identical to The Pegasus Fillies and Mares Turf with Sexy Back going to the lead and everything else forgetting he was there. It seems the racing styles of these horses can still be manipulated to suit the tactical side of the race as this one has run as a closer, a front runner and a stalker and been successful so the new race engine doesn’t seem so different from the old one in that respect.
But regardless of how he won the only surprising thing in that he did win was the price the punters got from the odds monkeys that made this multiple stakes winner an outsider in a race where his form looked outstanding. Now aged six his works said he was as good as ever and this win confirmed that, and he looks once again destined for success this year.
2nd Real One Nakamura Stables Bocachica A
Just like the Pegasus there was a separate race going on among the stalkers and this one that was settled into the pack for much of the race won that separate contest. The pace was just strong enough to bring his stamina into play and he out battled the rest for a decent second.
3rd Hint Of Sugar Arindel Gonzalez Ru
Third in the battle of the stalkers he still seems to be one of those that can compete at this level but inevitably ends up taking miner honors.
4th Broadway Bay Angelos Stable Loveberry J
Fourth in the race of the stalkers, he couldn’t for some reason live up to the blistering mile work he laid down a couple of weeks ago.
