The Shuvee – Grade II

1st Shes A Super Freak YME Stable Gaffalione T
You only have to look at this ones last six races to see how the draw can affect a horses form. In her last race she ran from the widest gate and in almost identical splits to her good third in the La Troinne from gate two she ran a shocker to finish a well beaten sixth of seven. Today back to an inside draw she sat in a comfortable stalk and when the button was pushed set up an unassailable lead going under the wire a length clear.
The bottom line this is a very good filly that unlike a good few successful three year olds has made the transition to four very successfully. This race should put her through to the big dance in November and with a little ore improvement to the four year olds she is sure to be a contender with a decent draw.
2nd Naples Arindel Davis D
She looked like her old self in transit today sitting just of the speed horses and traveling well but once again when the time came she could not do the business and remarkably remains win less this season. She may just be waiting on that improvement curve to kick-start again and if it does she will be a contender in any race she enters.
3rd Drink Me Pretty Mb Stables Carmouche K
Tucked in from the wide gate into a good position but used up plenty of energy to hold that and in the end had nothing left for the finish. A decent effort all things considered.
4th Bagel Bites Gdp Inc Lezcano J
My outsider hope she missed the kick out of the gate and went from front runner to a black book closer. Whether this was race engine shenanigans or an instructional change i guess only the trainer will know but she does seem to be one of those that you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t. There maybe some more improvement and the works suggest that so as we saw from the winner and inside draw next time could see her winning a good race.
