One Mile and One Half on the Turf

Long races on the turf are nothing new for Sin City Girlz, and in a race that seemed to lack a major headliner, her experience in races like the Glens Falls and Flower Bowl seemed to be valuable for the Dowager, and with that we made her our pick to win. She would not let us down, going wire to wire over the twelve furlongs before barely hanging on over a newcomer to the stake scene, Horing Gal. The victory is the ninth of the career for the Phooeys Ideal mare, and it’s good to see him turning out some quality runners like this from time to time. She is trained by Czech Out Farms, who wins their second career graded race (both coming from Sin City Girlz), and first Dowager trophy. Along for the ride J L Ortiz, who also wins for the first time in the Dowager. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 2:26.21, which is among the better winning times of the race. Let’s take a look at it!

(1/2 Mile- :48.98)- As mentioned, Sin City Girlz gets right out on the lead for Czech Out Farms, and the eventual race winner’s lead becomes a length and a half fairly quickly. Summer Dance will hold the second spot for now, for Team 7 Illusions, and she has Mo Cuishle right behind her, and over a lane for Royalty Stables. After a length, it’s TwinTowersRacing’s Happy Native, and then a gap of two and a half to the rest of the field, who are running together. Horing Girl (Night Rider Stables) has a head in front of Drunk Pinata (Keikowin Racing), and Cp Choosen Farley has chosen to be at the back for Mo Mentum Farm.

(3/4 Mile- 1:13.41)- Around the turn and moving into the backstretch, Sin City Girlz is all by herself at the front and has now pulled away by three lengths. She’s done this before at this distance, so it was a risky proposition for these others to let her get away unchallenged like this. Summer Dance and Mo Cuishle are still the closest pursuers, with Happy Native running in the middle of the field. Further back, Horing Gal and Drunk Pinata are now a length ahead of Cp Choosen Farley.

(Top of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- Sin City Girlz is allowed to put it in cruise control down the backstretch thanks to the lead that she has built up, and she would enter the final turn with still no one challenging her. This would hold true over the duration of the turn as well and entered the stretch leading by two lengths over Mo Cuishle, who has not pushed forward. However, she has been able to get around Summer Dance, because the race’s post time favorite began to leg weary. Meanwhile, further back, Drunk Pinata, as well as Horing Gal began to each make progress during the turn and, if nothing else, looked like they would be second and third as the leader was still four lengths or so ahead of them. Happy Native tired out, and Cp Choosen Farley was left behind.

(Finish- 2:26.21)- With a big lead in the stretch, Sin City Girlz seemed to have it made, but nothing can ever be easy. With a furlong to go, you wouldn’t have thought that someone was going to give her a major scare, but the combination of her tiring, and a never say die effort by both Horing Gal and Drunk Pinata suddenly made this very interesting all the way to the wire. Horing Gal nearly got there, but Sin City Girlz had just enough to survive at the wire and win in a tight photo. Drunk Pinata was third, with Mo Cuishle the best of the rest and getting a fourth-place check for that. Cp Choosen Farley, Summer Dance, and Happy Native round it out.

About The Winner- Sin City Girlz, trained by Czech Out Farms and ridden to victory by J L Ortiz, is a five-year-old mare by Phooeys Ideal, and is out of Good Kruz. She was bred by Onlineracingclub.com in West Virginia as a first quarter two-year-old, and was acquired by Czech Out Farms in September 2022 with a $7.500 claim. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her ninth in 27 starts, and her second stake win, each of which are graded. Her career earnings are now $553.050.
