RACE 2 SA Summertime Oaks (GII)
$200.000 3yoF 1 1/16m Dirt
Got back to the winner’s circle, even if it was a DH, at MTH last out while facing Alw foes. She’s been up-the-track in all of her graded stakes efforts, but the barn is obviously convinced that she is in fact this type of horse. I’m going to have to look at some others for the top spot today.
What a difference a win makes – talk about changing the attitude! Was struggling to get checks at the graded level and was sold privately for $150.000. A convincing win at MNR at the NW2 level propelled her to a massive win in the Selene (GIII) at WO. She seems to be a horse with a purpose right now and has to be given a big chance to get the job done today.
Yet to see the winner’s circle since being purchased for $450.000 although she was a close runner-up in the SA Oaks (GI) over this track. Disappointing effort at CD last out, but she could bounce back from that if she shows her best stuff. I’d certainly use her in my exotics.
Didn’t lift a foot when last in the KY Oaks (GI) at CD last out, and that’s two dull efforts in a row. She does have a graded win this season but that was on a muddy track and back in Feb. Let’s see if they can shake her up and get her back on the right track, but it’s probably going to be a look with no cash behind it.
Failed over this strip vs. Cal-bred Alw horses in her most recent effort. They shift gears a bit and try a longer distance, which may be to her liking, if she can set a softer pace and get more out of her tactical speed. That’s not exactly what I’m looking for vs. stakes horses so I’ll put my $2 on another.
Hasn’t won since Jan when breaking maiden here in SoCal, but she has been close vs. graded types and could be around for a minor share in this one. The post probably does her no good, but that was a fair effort in the Black Eyed Susan (GII) at PIM on PRK day.
