MTH Cup – Grade 3 – $400.00
MTH – 1 1/8 Mile – Dirt
For Three Year Olds and Upward
July 22, 2023
1 All Take – Alydar Stables
Best performance in recent memory was a second-place finish in the PA Derby in September. He hasn’t hit the board in five starts since, although his speed figures look very solid as do his works. Still not sold on this one.
2 Speightstown – Nakamura Stables
Looking for his first win this year. Most of his starts in 2023 have been in optional claiming company, so this is a step up for him. Last time he tried this level, he finished a respectable second in the FG Stakes in February. Could get a piece of the purse.
3 Federation – D J C Racing
Making his first graded stakes start of 2023. Won a N1X three starts back but followed that up with off-the-board performances in optional claiming company. Another one that will need to step it up to compete here.
4 Quality Art – Mb Stables
This five-year-old has been knocking around graded level all year and scored a win in the Alysheba three starts back. Third by a neck in the New Orleans Handicap in March. Speed figures are strong. Looks like the one to beat.
5 Anna Da Artist – Smokey Stover
Won the General George Stakes in February. Then after two off-the-board tries in graded company, he won an allowance at PIM. Despite a disappointing performance last out in the Hanshin, he could have a say in the outcome.
6 A Born Dancer – Maxmillion Farm
Only win this year came in a $32.000 claimer. Has not fared well in graded company lately, but he’s been working well. Seems to do his best running on or near the lead but has a hard time getting there. Needs to bring his A game.
