Slckmoment Laga got back to her winning ways in the G1 Vinery Madison at KEE on Saturday.  The 2021 champion filly or mare sprinter ran her record to 16-7-2-2 with the third G1 victory and now has earnings of $2,015.000.  The $500.000, seven-furlong victory was her first since her championship-clinching effort in the G1 BC F&M Sprint back in November.

Breaking alertly from stall eight, Slckmoment Laga was always in contention on the outside of a three-horse pack as Last Lady burst out of the gates from stall one and set the early tempo.  She was racing a three-wide third as Last Lady completed the opening quarter mile in :22.90 and was advancing with Zero Twist to just get a little closer to the leader.

Last Lady enjoyed a two-length advantage as she passed the three-eighths pole in a sharp :45.94.  Zero Twist and Slckmoment Laga both looked poised to pounce to her outside and Dialing look to take closer inspection from the rail.  Slckmoment Laga was in full flight approaching the furlong pole, and, though she was six-wide, she was bearing down on Last Lady. 

The winner took over shortly after three-quarters went in 1:09.63, but she would have to dig deep to hold off the challenges of Zero Twist, Strawberry, and Lady Narloff.  Running strongly through the wire, Slckmoment Laga stopped the clock in 1:21.98 for the seven furlongs and was almost a full length in front of the duo of Zero Twist and Lady Narloff.  The former won the photo for the place just as Strawberry got her nose down just before Torrents Of Spring for the final paying spot.  Completing the order of finish were Last Lady, Dialing, Unspoken, and Hardliners Lady.
