The Test – Grade I
7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $500.00 Filly 3 Year Olds.
1st Slckmoment Laga Night Rider Stables Saez L
As i mentioned in the write up for this race the draw is key to this one but also today a change in tactics may have also been key. Whether that was the trainers doing or just the race engines doing its thing we may never know but either way this was an impressive win. In her last two she has gone to the front off of faster paces than today but this time she settled just behind the leaders in a slower pace. As they turned for home she worked her way into the race and extended down the stretch for an impressive one length win. She looks to be BC bound now and may represent the best of the three year old female sprinters to take on the older horses.
2nd Notorious Return TwinTowersRacing Ryan S
Got into the stalk from her wide draw which was a big effort but that may have blunted her finish and she just kept on gamely for second with no answers to the winners finish. This was a great effort by this consistent and versatile performer who punched well above her weight in this grade one.
3rd Ms Joyce RNP Stables Pennington F
Went to the front and got away with some pretty average sectionals and whilst she could not keep it up to the line she, like the runner up, ran a good race in a tough and even field. Tactically she isn’t an easy filly to place in a race but she has now cashed in two graded races in a row and looks to be in fine form.
4th Lucky Insist Rock Creek Alvarado J
Didn’t have the pace to finish off her challenge at the end of this race but still did well enough to hold fourth against some useful sprinters.
