8 TAM The Lightning City Stakes

Abbreviated field, abbreviated distance, but I’m glad we were able to get this one to go… A field of five females will be ready to dash the five furlongs on the TAM turf as we look at the field for The Lightning City Stakes. With no penalty for this one, I really expected a bigger field, but let’s play the hand we were dealt.
I think we have a clear-cut favorite in Mo Ki Mo, that one coming from the Smokey Dispersal and lands in the John Henry barn after passing thru Spinetingling barn for lunch. A graded stakes winner isn’t really that barn’s cup of tea any longer, but she ends up in very capable hands and should be tough to get past, here.
Let’s go right next door and take Play Misty For Me in the second spot. That one has been consistent, hitting the board in four of five last season. Now, she ran an absolute dud last out when she beat one horse in the South Beach but she had been rested and I don’t think the distance was anything that she wanted… this could be a good spot to bounce back.
This is one of my favorite RL races, so let’s meet at Tampa Bay Brewing for brunch and get to the track in time to see this one.
