Three Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares
Only a field of five for this years running of the grade three Long Island Handicap here over the turf here at Aqueduct Racetrack and it is part of a nice stakes packed weekend. It is a very small field for a pretty good purse at this time of year. Let’s take a look at the field.
1. In Utero (10-1-1-2 $115.850), trained by Rampage Stable
The first filly in the field that we come across right here is coming into this race off of a terrible eighth place finish in the grade one Taylor at Woodbine but that was on a yielding turf course. A return to firm ground in here should help her a lot and the small field will help also. I think she could have an upset chance.
2. Farley Countrygirl (9-1-0-4 $6.510), trained by BomBay Stables
This filly here is also coming into this race out of the grade one Taylor Stakes where she ran a bad seventh but she has a low percent rider that day. She still has a lot to prove though and she is definitely going to have to run the best race of her career in here to win.
3. Miz Snakie Queen (11-3-1-2 $174.790), trained by Maxmillion Farm
Now to this filly who is bringing good form into this race with a win in her last start in the Zagora at Belmont over a good turf course. She also has arguably the best turf trainer in the game in her corner so that always helps. I think she will be very tough to beat in here.
4. Nancy Broom Moytoy (22-7-2-6 $969.320), trained by Team 7 Illusions
First of two in here for Team 7 Illusions and this looks like his better entry based on previous races that she has ran over the course of her career. She has not been good since the beginning of the year but if she is ever going to return to form it is going to be in this spot right here.
5. Revved Injen (12-2-5-1 $156.810), trained by Team 7 Illusions
Last runner in the field right here and she is coming into this race off of a win in the grade three Dowager at Keeneland in her last start. She ran very well that day and that was her first ever stakes win. She is on the improve and she could upset this field if she runs her best.
Summary
A small field but most of the field looks pretty evenly matched for the most part. Nancy Broom Moytoy oozes a lot of class with her grade one win about a year ago. I think she will return to her best form in here with the drop in class and small field. Good luck to all in the race.
