The Smart N Fancy Stakes had all the makings of a good race, with it’s wide open field. It was a very difficult race to predict, and in the end in a race like this, it’s always good to look for a horse that might come at a price. Your Worst Nightmare went off at odds of 11/1, despite not really having issues coming into the race. She had hit the board in twelve races straight, and since being acquired by London Racing, she had won four of eight. The field was just that deep, though, as you could say similar about many in the field. Your Worst Nightmare would end up scoring the win by utilizing a stalking trip early and striking in the stretch, and earns London Racing their first racing, and similar is true for the jockey, E J Wilson. Congratulations to them! The time of the victory was 1:02.55, the second fastest in the history of the race. Let’s take a look at it!

(1/4 Mile- :22.51)- Point Of Honor heads right to the lead for High Voltage, and opens up a lead of a length of a half down the backstretch. Behind them, there are three of them lined up in a stalking position, and on the outside of this group would be our eventual winner, Your Worst Nightmare, for London Racing. She was ever so slightly behind the other two, so is credited with fourth at this point. Marner, from Mb Stables, holds the rail while running second, and situated between them is Gdp Inc’s Crack Eyes. John Henry’s The Great Enabler had been behind them, but at the top of the turn, she would swing out four wide to try and make a move. Big City Kitty (Our Athletes) and Calamity Jean (Angelos Stable) were only about three lengths off themselves.

(Top of Stretch, 1.7F To Go)- Point Of Honor remains the leader while rounding the turn and moving into the stretch. So far, no one has challenged her yet, and it’s only Marner that is beginning to close in for now. Your Worst Nightmare had not yet begun her run, but was about a length and a half behind the pacesetter. To her outside, The Great Enabler was reeling her in, though Crack Eyes was beginning to back out. Further back, if Big City Kitty or Calamity Jean were going to do anything, they needed to get moving.

(Finish- 1:02.55)- Point Of Honor looks good in the stretch early on, but Marner would claim the top spot about midway through. However, as she was doing that, in the outside lanes both Your Worst Nightmare and The Great Enabler were gradually gaining ground. Getting closer to the wire, they would become the ones to watch, and for Your Worst Nightmare it came in handy that she always had that half-length edge on The Great Enabler. The runner up would never be able to make up that deficit as Your Worst Nightmare runs hard all the wire to get the victory. The Great Enabler is second, with Point Of Honor getting back by Marner just before the wire for third, leaving Marner fourth. The others were never factors today. Calamity Jean, Big City Kitty, and Crack Eyes round it out.

About The Winner- Your Worst Nightmare, trained by London Racing and ridden to victory by E J Wilson, is a four year old filly by Face Your Fear, and is out of Sweet Dreams Tonight. She was bred by Luz International as a yearling in New York, and acquired by London Racingin June 2021, for a $5.000 claim. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her eighth in 17 starts, and her second stake win. Her career earnings are now $250.440.
