It was a wet, dreary day in NoKy but that didn’t stop the festivities (here). The Ladies Marathon (GIII) brought us a very exciting finish as we had a three- horse photo for the win and Number Nine, owned by Smokey Stover pulled out the win by the narrowest of margins, to take home the big prize. Stinky Rene just missed and settled for the second spot, then a head back to the fast closing Made The Choice High in third. Post time favorite All By Myself was three-quarter of a length back, taking the minor money. The final running time was 2:10.45 over the Yielding sod.
Number Nine is a 6yo bay mare by Niner Forty Niner – Silent Partner, by Well Informed, and she was bred in Cal by Serenity Stables. Smokey Stover acquired her via Private Purchase for $400.000 back in June of last season, and she’s been a money maker for this outfit. Now showing eleven wins from thirty-two life time starts, two of those coming this season, and she has amassed $3,206.340 in earnings. Congrats to the Connections!
