Timing with a closer is so important and very often less important than the trip, the surface or the draw. Today for the second time in a row this consistent mare got the timing perfect and won going away from her rivals. Taken back to last but never out of touch the pace was just strong enough to give her a chance of closing and she did it very nicely in the end. This was a deserved win for a five-year-old that always gives her best.

Stalked the leader but had nothing left to hold the closer at the end. A game effort and a good ride from Husbands but she was second best today.

3rd Atomic Fury Xcel Racing Ortiz J L

Another that was up on the speed which was just too fast for it to be sustained she faded badly in the last furlong but still ran a solid race for a three-year-old against some experienced and older rivals.

4th Chase The Money Avenue Z Elliott S

She held a good enough position but for some reason today she just didn’t look enthusiastic down the stretch. She may have been asked to give a little more early in this race and that may well have caused the lack luster display, but she is better than this effort.
