The great Alpha Ultimo won The Metropolitan Hcp (GI) three times in his career… now, So Profound, owned by Asgar,  has the chance to match that unbelievable mark as he now has back-to-back wins in this prestigious race, taking Saturday’s running by three quarters of a length.  The final time was a sharp 1:33⁴ on the fast BEL main track.  Its A Laugher took the second spot, three quarters of a  length in front of Twilight Flame in third.  It was a neck back to Boardwalk who got the minor money.

So Profound is a 5yo entire by Profound Connection – Preparations, by Applause, and he was bred in ON by Mb Stables.  Acquired at the Dec 2018 Auction for $5.060, the bay has six wins from eighteen starts and earnings of $1,930,540.  This was his first win of the season, and he made it a big one.  Congrats to the connections!

So Profound in behind leader, moved up 3p through the turn, engaged leaded at the sixteenth pole, kicked clear, won in a drive.  Its A Laugher just behind the early pace, took lead into the lane, headed at the sixteenth pole, game.  Twilight Flame sent from the gate, headed into the lane, evenly from there.  Boardwalk mid-pack early 4p, drifted lane.  Quarter Plan good early speed 4p, drifted slightly in the lane, out-finished.  Toxic Personality inside speed, to the turn, tired.  Night Creature moved to rail early while unhurried, never fired.  Broken Tap even effort.  Actualize mid-pack early, no excuse.  Dauzac taken back, not a factor.  Achilles off slowly, not involved.  Maniaco del Controll outrun. Red Cup outrun.  Shadow Man outrun.
