Classy Gassers, but we aren’t in Pomona… these are the grass types, and we look at the field for the BC Turf Sprint (GI). The idea that this is a five-furlong dash certainly lends to the go-go-get’em idea, for sure. There are so many back stories in this race, you could write a book… or maybe just a 650-post forum mess. It could happen. It could happen.
Our picks are all over the place, which almost follows the storyline(s) that are out there, but I’m seeing this as a spot for class to take over, and when it’s Mb’s class, you have to pay attention. Drinkin Creepin has won seven races on the year, five of those were graded races and that’s hard to accomplish. I know he’s been fourth in his last two starts, but I think the five-eighth’s distance is the turning factor for him to score.
Is there a better story than Soviet Mig? Claimed two back for a mere $20.000 and has won both starts for the new barn… with the Lasix add. He looked like a world beater, taking the Woodford (GII) at KEE, but did he peak one race too soon… or was that the start of something very, very special?
A ton of ideas for the third spot, but I’ll go against one of my own rules and put Bayldonite in the third spot. Only seven starts, but that Nearctic (GII) win is just too much to ignore. The barn has to want a repeat effort, and that may be enough for the win.
Congratulations and Best of Luck to everyone involved.
