Solar Coast came to a BEL ready to run. He broke alertly from the gate and pressed the pace until the half-mile mark where he took the lead. Love Of The Derby ran with him most of the mile and an eighth but couldn’t hang on for second as Martinez made a big late run to get to the wire ahead of him.

1 Solar Coast (Smokey Stover) Took control early and never looked back.

2 Martinez (Royalty Stables) Came flying late to get up for second.

3 Love Of The Derby (Mb Stables) Stalked the pace throughout and finished third.

4 Racket Cat (Alydar Stables) Last most of the way, late move got him fourth.

5 Kentucky Pharoah (Arindel) Lost ground from fourth to fifth.

6 Buccaneers Bounty (Nakamura Stables) Third early, faded badly to finish sixth.

7 Law Of The Land (Mo Mentum Farm) Never a factor.

8 Classic Peace (Threshold) Never a factor.
