1 KEE Palisades Turf Sprint
$100.000 3yo 5f Turf 120lbs
Opening day at KEE… and the first race on the program. If you thought the SRF would skip this one, you were wrong. We have a trio of sophomore races, two of the open variety, and we look at the field for the Palisades Turf Sprint, a five and a half furlong 3yo stakes with a set weight of 120 pounds. Dial It Chuck will be the choice choice here today… he won last out at GP vs. similar and certainly seems to like turf sprinting. Another that is hot right now is Insist On Time and you always have to put an Mb horse in the middle of things. I think we have to put Extremo in this mix, even though his last few have been poor. He was second in the BC Juv Turf (GI) and that’s enough to get a nod despite his recent form.
Here’s the Field –
|
Ags Cherokee | Arq Racingfarms | Gaffalione T | 120 | 5/1 |
Just missed last out when second in the Texas Glitter at GP. He had a trio of races that were just forgettable, so to see some life back in this guy is a good sign. Maybe the addition of Lasix helped in that? Anyway, we has some sharp works and I’d give him a chance here.
|
Insist On Time | Mb Stables | Jaramillo E | 120 | 7/2 |
Three wins in a row and Mb just keeps rolling them out. This one failed in the Best Pal (GII) so it was on to softer fields and he has responded as the barn would have wanted. I think this is another spot where he can use his speed to get into the mix and it’s anyone’s race from there.
|
Ransom Hack | Lindeman Prairie | Bridgmohan S X | 120 | 5/1 |
On the board in six of eight starts and has been making a good living at the FLA-bred level. He won at this distance breaking maiden at CRC last fall, so although he been racing long (more of a miler) this may be a spot that he can find accommodating. He may be a price as well.
|
Imperfect One | Gdp Inc | Achard A | 120 | 5/1 |
His last win came in Oct of last season but he has been close in a number of races. Fifth last out on the soft grass at TAM in the Columbia (love the food there, but I digress), but has won on soft going. He’s a wildcard to me.
|
Dial It Chuck | Arindel | Davis D | 120 | 3/1 |
The probable favorite here off of that win last out taking the Texas Glitter at GP in his most recent. He seemed to like the shorter distance and moving to the grass, so this should be a spot for him to show his true ability. It will surprise me if he isn’t in the middle of this one.
|
Mr Orange | Arindel | Bahen S R | 120 | 5/1 |
Orange is a key word with this stable right now, but we aren’t talking about 2yo’s. This one has had a pair of less than thrilling starts, but he also was only beaten a length on BC Day (over this track) and has won at the graded level. Which horse shows up today?
|
Extremo | Acber Farms | Beschizza A | 120 | 5/1 |
Another that has run big on big stages, but his last few races have left a bad taste. Ninth in the TX Turf Mile and tired to be tenth in the Rebel (GII) but he’s was also second in the BC Juv Turf (GI) and a few other stakes races, so he can certainly run with any type.. or at least he has.
