SAR Special – Grade 2 – $200.000
SAR – 6 1/2 Furlongs – Dirt
For Two Year Olds
August 13, 2022
Mb Stables’ gelding spoiled the day for the competition in the SAR Special (G2). Spoiled stalked the lead, then took over halfway through the 6 furlong contest. In the process, he extended his winning streak to 3 and proved himself a major contender in the two-year-old division.
Kimbos Cat (Witeout Stables) was the fastest out of the gate and quickly opened up a 1 1/2 length lead over If Only You Believe (La Canada Racehorses), Spoiled, and Major Problem (Rousee). Drop Off (Williams9) led the next flight of Stormy Jones (Arindel), War of Backroads (Fractious), and Lunar Eclipse (Dmc Racing). Royal Valor (Nakamura Stables), Dimitrii (Arindel) and Semi Auto (Fractious) trailed early.
On the backstretch, Spoiled moved into second and cut the lead by a quarter length. If Only You Believe kept a head in front of Major Problem in third. These two vied for third all the way to the far turn. War of Backroads moved up on the outside while Drop Off looked for running room between horses.
Spoiled caught Kimbos Cat on the turn. Major Problem took third with If Only You Believe to his outside and Drop Off holding off War of Backroads.
The contest for first was over at the top of the stretch. Spoiled took control and quickly pulled away by a length. Major Problem took third but only for a second before Drop Off found running room and got his nose in front for second at the wire.
It was the third win in four starts for the Mb Stables-bred son of Apples To Oranges out of the Fire N Fury mare Quiet Killer. The victory was the biggest of his young career and brings his earnings to $304.860. Congratulations to Mb Stables and Spoiled!
