The Inside Information – Grade II
7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Sports Creek Estero Farms Landeros C
She was ridden like the best filly in the race taking the chance of blocks out of the equation by stalking a very slow pace and to be honest the result was on the wall as soon as the first quarter pace time was posted. She won by three quarter of a length in the end but she is a filly that tends to do just enough so this for her was a fairly wide margin victory. This is a nice start to the year but soon w=she will face the three year olds at weight for age which may be tough for the next few months but she is good enough to come back later in the year and should be a contender for BC sprint honours come November.
2nd Indian River Queen South Beach Racing Jaramillo E
Stayed on well from her widish trip and was slowly pegging back the winner as the post came. She is a really consistent sort who should be around a while although we may see her best at a little further than this seven furlongs.
3rd Coldpack John Henry Saez L
Took the lead on a fairly soft pace and i must admit i was surprised when she didnt hold on down the stretch. Some successful three’s can struggle in their four year old season and she seems like one of those that just hasnt taken any improvement out of the ageing process. She may improve later or not at all so it is probably just a wait and see situation for the trainer.
4th Covert Operation D J C Racing Stables Zayas E J
Got back off a slow pace and did pretty well in the end to get within two lengths of the winner. This was a better effort for the new owner and may have restored some confidence in her ability going forward. She may well try a bit further next time and she does tend to get outpaced in these sprinting races.
