6 SA Palos Verdes Stakes (GIII)
$100.000 4yo&Up 6f Dirt 123lbs
SoCal and it looks like the torrential down-pours have left the area, so let’s hope for a Fast track as we catch a nice field of eleven sprinters set to get after it in the Palos Verdes Stakes (GIII), a six furlong stakes for the older males. Class, speed, grit, wins… that spells this group, but I think it best describes R Lopez and he will be my top selection today. Other than that dud on BD Day, he’s been tough winning five of ten last season and kicking off ’24 with a win over this track, at the distance, in very quick time. He beat a few of these in that race… did it take something out of him or just sharpen him up? We find out… speaking of that race, Fionas Miracle was a nose back in second, so let’s put him in the middle of this one, as well. He won two race to close out last season, then just missed in that Alw race, so safe to say he’s still on top of his game as well… the two extra pounds is no favor, that’s for sure. The Green Card also likes Lennon off of his two wins to close out ’24… another interesting horse, to say the least.
