Star-Studded Field Headed by Credit Crime Take Aim at FG Oaks

FG Oaks – Grade II [KYO]
FG Race #12 1 1/16m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $400.000 For Fillies Three Years Old.

1 Sune Lee Riggins Racing Lopez P 122 —

Bought for $265.000 from Aer Stables after a strong second in the Las Virgenes she gets a great draw and an in-form jockey to quickly pay back that investment today. Her last three including a win in the Untappable have come from a stalking position which will be suited to this gate my only worry is that she only arrived in the yard two weeks ago and may still be in the settling in phase. No real negatives here and a winning chance.

2 Stefania TwinTowersRacing Hernandez R M 122 —

Ran well enough in the Silverbulletday to look a good chance in the SUN Oaks last time but the wide gate saw her fall to the back and stay there in a terrible effort. She is certainly better than that and gets a good draw today, so I think there will be plenty of improvement. She will love the trip and is an each way chance.

3 Credit Crime Aer Stables Ortiz I Jr 122 —

It is hard to fault this filly who is probably our KYO favorite at the moment. She gets another great draw today and after her very nice Alexanda win last time must be favorite to win this too. She has all the form, the good gate, a jockey who has won three times with her and is proven in the class and over the trip. She should win.

4 Shericka Winning Link Stables Velazquez J R 122 —

Though Credit Crime looks good for this there are one or two that may just spoil the party, and this is one of them. She took on her first longer race last time when making all and coming home a length clear in the SUN Oaks, very good form for a race like this. I think she needs to be lead or stalk to have a chance here so the pace needs to be sensible and if it is she may just open them up into the home turn and have enough of a break to hold on.

5 Valkyria Alydar Stables Espinoza V 122 —

Won the Silverbulletday with a massive late run but then tried the same in the Alexanda and as can happen got the timing wrong. She was third behind Credit Crime that day but covered the second half mile quicker than the winner so certainly has the ability if she can launch her late challenge at the right time.

6 Angelic Wonder Mb Stables Gaffalione T 122 —

One run, one win in a TUP Maiden and whilst that form is impossible to compare, you have to respect the trainer enough to believe she can live with some of the best fillies in her division so far this year. She breezed pretty well on this surface recently, so if she can put her turf works and nice debut win form onto the main track, she could surprise a few.

7 See The Wind Mb Stables Franco M 122 —

Ran second four times in a row before a dead heat maiden win last time, she looks a very progressive filly that is going to win more races. Second twice in state-bred stakes races as a maiden her sub 1.11 works tell me that she is ready to break through, whether today is the day against some of the top KYO hopes I am not sure, but if anyone can pull it off it is Mb Stables.

8 Red Feathers Team 7 Illusions Corrales G 122 —

A game maiden win last time and a lightening work after suggest that this too is far better than a one-win filly. As I have said earlier it is hard to compare a maiden win against stakes form, but this stable has a way with these lightly raced fillies and it wouldn’t be a shock if she ran very well. The wide gates for this one and See The Wind inside her may see a fast pace as they both like to go on speed so a lot will depend on how it plays out in the first half mile.

SUMMARY

This field is a great mix of proven ability and possible greatness as we have a group of runners with vastly different form but that all have a claim. Credit Crime looks the one on everything we have seen so far, her running style will work with a fast or slow pace and she has looked a KYO winner in waiting for a while. The obvious second and third would be Shericka and Sune Lee but whilst that all looks cut and dried, it will no doubt not be as simple as that. I feel whoever wins or runs well here may be the favorite for the KYO.
