$175.000 1 1/8 on Dirt
-The Downs Racetrack & Casino Albuquerque New Mexico
Star Vault, as expected showed plenty of early foot tonight for Mb Stables and slowly wore down Mount Fuji who was saddled by Night Rider Stables. These two were clear the entire race and anybody with a two-dollar ticket on “Vault” would have been properly advised to go get in line once he put away Mount Fuji, because from there on out, it was just a matter of how far.
Puma from The Sidley Stud put himself into a good position tracking the two leaders and sitting just in front of the rest, but when crunch time came, he faded out of it.
Barista, as expected, made the best late move after a big run at Del Mar in his last for Santan Stables and took home third place. Heavily touted Jerry from the Threshold barn goes to bed tonight still seeking win number two. Honolulu also from The Sidley Stud shed row did enough to best his stablemate Puma, forcing that one to finish last.
Congrats to the winner. Star Vault is a 4-year-old grey gelding that with tonight’s win goes just over the $270.000 mark in lifetime earnings. That was win number four from fifteen trips post ward. Owned and trained by Mb Stables
