Starting Over has gotten good, like really, really good. Conquering the 7-furlong G3 Fritchie for her third consecutive stakes victory (with back-to-back G3’s), Starting Over now sports a career record of 12-4-2-3 and her share of the $250.000 purse pushes her earnings to $297.360. With seven-furlong dirt wins sandwiching a 12-furlong turf victory, it is anyone’s guess where this talented lass turns up next.
Dialing broke best of all and quickly established the pace while Starting Over raced at the back with Unspoken about four lengths off of the early tempo. After the opening quarter was posted in :23.19, Precise Performance tried to clear the three horses racing inside of her to apply pressure on Dialing. The leader continued unbothered through a half-mile that went in :46.16 as Precise Performance was unable to accomplish either of her objectives and was stuck five-wide entering the turn.
Starting Over waited patiently until there was a quarter mile left before moving to the four-path for clear run on Dialing. The leader held a two-length advantage over Slckmoment Laga as she passed the furlong pole in 1:09.63. To the latter’s outside, Starting Over was beginning to make progress and was within three lengths of Dialing. At the sixteenth pole, Dialing started getting leg weary while Starting Over and Slckmoment Laga creeped closer. Between that pair, Unspoken was making a very bold late rally. It was a blanket finish as three horses hit the wire together. The judges went to the monitor and determined that Starting Over had just edged Dialing (place) and Unspoken (show) as the top three were separated by just a head. Slckmoment Laga was just a half-length back in fourth with Canary For One, Precise Performance, and Top Billing completing the order of finish.
