PARX Sprint – Grade III
PRX Race #1 5f Turf Graded Stake
Purse $200.000 For Three Year Olds And Upward.
1 Pollinate Mb Stables Rodriguez A R
The three year olds get the weight allowance here so i suspect we may see one of them win and this one who has laid down consecutive 57 and 3 five furlong works looks just the sort to get in the finish. Despite those fast works on turf he has raced 6 of his 7 races on dirt but in his only turf race he won the listed Walker in soft ground. Not as good as some of these on form but form doesn’t mean much these days.
2 Flooded Estero Farms Pennington F
Beaten just one length in the BC Turf Sprint last year he also won this very race on an off track last year as well as two other black type races. He has been lightly raced this year but took a sprint optional claimer last time in 56 and 1 so is clearly firing on all cylinders. He gets the perfect draw to repeat his win of last year.
3 Bob Mueller TwinTowersRacing Silvera Ru
Ticks some boxes in as much as he is a three year old that is drawn well and he did win the Beau Stakes last time in 56 and 2 meaning with the weight allowance he can beat Flooded. After nine races on the dirt that last run was his first on turf, another one of those anomalies that tends to happen here at HRP. He worked 57 and 3 for this which puts him on a par with everything else.
4 Storming Fractious Haddock D
Ran fourth in the Jaipur last time his first turf sprint since September last year. But good horses are good at HRP over any trip and he is good enough. The 1.09 and 1 work he put down at BEL a few days ago was slick but i worry that this trip may just be too sharp for him.
5 Great And Prudent Drabfantasy Rosado R J
A long time turf sprinter he won the Eddie D last year and was second beaten a half length in the BC Turf Sprint making him one of the standouts on form. His turf works are much the same as everything else and he won an allowance last time in 56 and 2 so whilst he ticks all the boxes he does so with most of this field.
6 Bajan Mask Spankys Barn Perez J M
Really only gets a chance on the basis that he is a three year old, having said that he won his maiden in the same time as the BC Turf Sprint so guess what he looks just as fast as everything else. The question with him is the class gene, if he has it he could win if he hasn’t he wont.
7 Dominant Force John Henry Salgado A
Another three year old working in the 57’s and a winner in a sub 57 so he must go in the mix. This one ran a cracker in the Shakertown going down by a head but then found a wide gate in the Jaipur and could’nt only manage seventh. If things go his way he will be in the mix.
8 Angels Chance Midnight Racing Sanchez M J
Got home by a nose from a horrible draw to win the Daytona last time and had previously won the GP Turf Sprint in 56 and 1 so clearly has plenty going for him. Being a four year old is a minus as is his draw but he proved last time he can overcome adversity.
9 Convoy Threshold – Scratch –
Was working in the right time frames but drew an 8% jokey so the only option was to scratch and donate money to HRP.
10 Cold Weather Rider Night Rider Stables Rodriguez L A
Just a half behind Angels Chance in the GP Turf Sprint he has worked a 57 and 1 on this track and a 1.09 and 1 for the six furlongs probably the fastest recent works in the field. Being six he can handle the weight allowance better so despite not having the form to win he does have a lot going for him. I like him as an outside chance.
11 Eggs And Bacon Mb Stables Bisono J
A grade one winning two year old he ran third in the BC Juvenile Turf as well making him a leading turf two year old. He hasn’t managed to win so far this year but has run two seconds at graded level and wasn’t far behind in the Jaipur last time. Capable at best but has to overcome the horror draw.
SUMMARY
All i seem to be saying recently is everything in this race looks about the same and anything could win with a good trip. I think i will go for the value that Cold Weather Rider may offer but if they were all $6 joint favorites which they probably should be i would go for Bob Mueller purely by the fact that he can run as fast as anything in the field and gets the unfair weight advantage as well as a good draw.
