AQU Race #3 $100.000

NY-Bred F&M 3+ 121/124 Lbs (plus penalties) 1-Mile

Course Record-1:33.67 (Omni-2004)

Stakes Record-N/A (1st Time at 1-Mile)

#1 Lonely (Ace Racing Stable/A.S. Worrie 123): Sophomore lass is a last-out winner over at FL where she took a 6.5f state-bred allowance.  That was her 2nd win of the season; however, the January win came at this same level over this strip.  She will have to tote a couple extra pounds for winning that one, but this draw suits her running style.

#2 One Skeleton (TwinTowersRacing/P. Lopez 121): Two wins with a runner-up and a third from nine starts this season.  She gets weight from all but one in here as this would be her first black-type victory.  She didn’t fare too well when she tried graded company on either surface, and she only has a win and a show from five main track starts.  She was somewhat competitive when she tried this level last year at BEL.

#3 Gambier G (Allinthegate/E. Jaramillo 124): Filly’s last start at three came back in March of last year and she took quite a bit of time before reappearing as a 4yo.  Can’t fault the consistency as she’s finished ITM 11 times from 12 career starts.  Hasn’t faced stakes-quality opposition yet, but she appears to be able to match the capabilities of her rivals once the gates open.

#4 Stacysmomgotitgoinon (Big Jd Racing/J. Loveberry 123): Took a $150.000 turf event back in June at this level and she’ll have to tote a couple extra pounds in her quest to claim a main track victory.  Best effort on dirt appears to be the debut when she just missed by a nose at DED going 5f.  Only has a single show effort from four tries routing, but that effort came in a G2 on the SAR lawn.

#5 Grandest Lady (La Canada Racehorses/A.A. Reyes 121): A three-time winner from eight starts this season, sophomore comes her with some momentum after taking a CT N3L allowance last-out.  Lass took them a long way before being beaten a length when she tried this level back in August at monster odds.  With nine exacta finishes in fifteen starts, she has enough tactical speed to get herself into useful positions.

#6 Surrey (Smokey Stover/D. Davis 123): Sophomore has padded her resume quite nicely this season as she’s yet to be off of the board in 10 starts.  She’s already taken three of these NY-bred, black-type events and she comes here after just missing in the G3 Comely last month.  Doesn’t get the best draw here; however, she’s got two stakes wins over this strip to go along with last month’s narrow defeat/

Final Analysis: Hate spotting weight, but Surrey has the look of a stand-out.  We’ll call it 6-5-3 in The Bay Ridge at AQU.
