Tears Flow in The Canadian Turf as an Old Warhorse Turns Back the Clock

The Canadian Turf – Grade III
1 1/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st= Banshee Star Calia Stable Ortiz I Jr

Somewhere in the result of this race is an important message but that message is lost to me simply because what we saw here was a NINE-year-old that has been written off by many so many times in his career pull off a performance that was both emotional and eye opening. He couldn’t secure the win on his own, nor is this the best win he has ever had but at nine years old and showing all the guts and determination that has won him 19 races and well over $2,000.000 in prize money you couldn’t help but be moved by this victory.
Who knows what happened in his last two starts, was it a couple of bad instructions, was it what others instructed, was it the jockey, the draw, the old race engine, we just don’t know and probably never will but on this shiny new race engine he certainly shone today.

1st= Jakarta Nakamura Stables Hernandez C J

Well, if Banshee Star deserved a win for his past glories, then this one certainly earned a win too and finally won for only the third time in his career. He couldn’t find that extra stride to go past Banshee Star but stuck on with all his usual heart and forced the dead heat in a thrilling race.

3rd Proud Bo TwinTowersRacing Cedillo A

This one has certainly come out firing as a four-year-old and stuck on really well for third on a track that was probably a bit drier than he likes. I have no doubt he will face another tough year, but he will certainly win his fair share.

4th Aerialist Mb Stables Dettori L

Well, he was five lengths better than his run last time out on a line through Jakarta so this could be seen as a triumph of sorts. I think as he steps up in trip, we will see some more wins, but he is at that age when things can go either way. His next run may tell us where he will be in the future.
