Techfluence High Brings the Pain in Gamely Win

The Gamely Stakes (Grade 1)- $300.000 Purse
SA- For Fillies and Mares Three Years Old and Upward
One Mile and One Eighth on the Turf
May 27, 2024

There’s no denying that Techfluence High has been a successful filly, but after running in the BC last fall, she had hit a cold spell. Last month, she broke out of that slump in a big way right here in the Royal Heroine Stakes, and now in the Gamely, she would make it two in a row! Safe to say that the cold stretch is over and now her trainer, The Sidley Stud, can only hope that it is going to lead a longer hot streak so she can get back to the BC. It’s the first win in the Gamely for both The Sidley Stuf and jockey J R Velazquez. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:45.27, and that is a new stake record. Let’s take a look at it:

(½ Mile- :47.46)- Painville is the quickest out of the gate for Mo Mentum Farm, and will lead the way down the frontstretch, but she would be passed in the turn by the Mb Stables- owned Wander. These two were ahead of the rest of the field by a length and a half entering the backstretch. That’s where we find a three wide group, with the horse on the rail, Black N Gold Stable’s Lady Hilltopper having a neck in front of Invicta Group Llc’s Lousiana Woo. Maletto’s Always Condottieri runs between them. Trailing the field is our eventual winner from The Sidley Stud, Techfluence High, but she is only four lengths from the front.

(3/4 Mile- 1:10.47)- Wander has gotten the better of Painville in the backstretch and has pulled a full length ahead of that one. It’s another length to Lady Hilltopper, who is third as Lousiana Woo drops back and Always Condottieri shows signs of fatigue. For now, Techfluence High is still sixth, but seems to be about to pass at least two in the turn.

(Top of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- Wander is still out front, and Mb Stables had to be feeling good with how his horse put away the likes of Painville. Entering the stretch, Painville is clinging to the second position, but Lady Hilltopper is about to take over that spot. Techfluence High was hitting her best stride, moving into the fourth spot with plenty of room to run while on the rail. So Mb Stables knew that this wasn’t won just yet. Lousiana Woo was lacking an “I” and any form of forward push, and Always Condottieri had packed it in for the day.

(Finish- 1:45.27)- Wander looked good out in front, but the quickest horse in the stretch, especially in the final furlong, was Techfluence High. She was making the most of the clear lane close to the rail and all Wander could do was hope that the wire would hurry up and get there. Closer to the finish, there was no one better than Techfluence High, as she takes home of the victory! Wander almost found herself caught for second by the resilient Lady Hilltopper, but that one will settle for third. Painville gets the fourth-place check, over Lousiana Woo and Always Condottieri.

About The Winner- Techfluence High, trained by The Sidley Stud and ridden to victory by J R Velazquez, is a four-year-old filly by Techfluence and is out of High On Haggis. She was bred in California as a yearling by Winning Link Stables, and acquired by The Sidley Stud was she was still unraced for $35.000 in a November 2021 private sale. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her seventh in 21 starts, and her sixth stake win, five of which are graded. Her career earnings are now $1,364.000.
