Ten Set for The Triple Bend Stakes

The Triple Bend Stakes – GII
5/18/19
SA Race 3 7F – Dirt
Purse $200.000
Three Year Olds and Up

A field of ten runners has been entered up for this years running of the grace two Triple Bend Stakes over the main oval here at Santa Anita. It’s a good ten horse field and it looks like a very competitive race to me. Let’s go ahead and take a look at the field.

1. Con Artist (17-6-3-3 $674.840), trained by Mb Stables

The first runner in the field right here is returning right back to here at Santa Anita after a second place finish in the grade two Kona Stakes in his last start. He is a grade one winner over this track so he likes it here and he should be ready to go in here.

2. Charentes (32-11-8-6 $629.940), trained by Angelos Stable

This next horse in the field right here is coming into this race off of a two race win streak which includes the grade three Cartier Stakes at Woodbine last time. He won by a quarter length that day and if he can repeat that type of performance he will be very tough in this spot.

3. Along For The Ride (22-5-4-4 $409.420), trained by Fractious

Well this horse right here is coming into this race off of a win in the grade two Kona Stakes which was over this same exact track. He beat a couple of the others in this race and he obviously likes the track so I think he will be very tough in this spot.

4. Speedy Kavorka (21-6-4-5 $119.500), trained by D J C Racing Stables

This next horse in the field is coming into this spot off of a second place finish in an allowance race at Tamps Bay. Before that he had been running in cheap claimers but he has been blowing up the work tab so they are taking a shot in here. I don’t really see him having much of a chance.

5. Cute Rain (17-7-2-5 $232.900), trained by Fractious

The second runner from Fractious right here and he is coming into this spot off of a win in a Pennsylvania bred stakes race in his last start. He went gate to wire that day and he does usually like to show speed. He is a good horse but I think he may be in here for a pace horse for his stablemate.

6. Made To Sin (31-5-7-3 $1,537.400), trained by John Henry

One of the old class horses right here and he is coming into this race off of a second place finish in the grade three Texas Mile. He is shortening up to a one turn race right here and he is not as good as one turn as he is around two turns. He is a big longshot in this spot.

7. Bad English (20-4-2-4 $509.720), trained by Maxmillion Farm

Well here is another graded stakes winner in the find but all of his graded stakes wins have been around two turns. He is a talented racehorse but I think he is a lot better around two turns and I just don’t see him being much of a threat in this spot at all.

8. Il Assets (11-2-2-2 $109.710), trained by Gdp Inc

This horse right here is coming into this race off of a second place finish in the grade two Californian Stakes here at Santa Anita but that was going a mile and an eighth. He seems apt better around two turns but this is a one turn race so not sure how she will handle it.

9. Cat Whisperer (18-7-4-4 $476.340), trained by Onlineracingclub.com

Another one that started in the grade two Kona Stakes in his last start where he ran third after closing very nicely down the late. He usually likes to come from far back so if there is a lot of speed there will be a good pace to close into and he will be rolling late.

10. Cause I Do (16-8-1-1 $189.640), trained by Greeko Holdem

And now to the final runner in the field right here and he is coming into this spot off of a win in the Caica Electronica at Aqueduct. That was a stakes win but it was a starter stakes so this is a very big jump in class. He has a tough post and it’s a rough field so not sure how he will fair.

Summary

Well I do think that the inside three runners are the toughest three in this race and I an going to make my top pick Charentes because he is on a two race win streak and he is a very nice runner. The inside three are my top three picks in here. Good luck to all in the field.
