The Azeri – Grade II
OP Race #2 1 1/16m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $300.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.
1 Hydro, trained by Team 7 Illusions
This four year old daughter of Charley Farley went from fair track obscurity to Grade two winner
in her fairly short career and gives the impression we still havent seen the best of her. Second
in the grade one Acorn and The Cotillion last year she got a grade two win in the IND Oaks as a
three year old and went into a break with a very nice 6th in the BC Distaff. Given a nice rest she
looked better than ever on her seasonal reappearence when taking the grade two Royal Delta by a very game head after making all the running. She gets the perfect draw today and will be very hard to beat if she gets on or near the front.
2 Brawl Dead End, trained by Mb Stables
This four year old has won five from just seven starts and despite already being a grade two winner
comes here as unexposed and still a litte untapped. That graded win came in The Santa Maria Stakes
where she ran the stalk and kept on strongly to win by a half length in a small field. She is working
very strongly and must be a huge threat in this small but nicely formed field.
3 Sinissippi Delite, trained by Axeman
The 2014 BC Ladies Classic winner she was fairly lightly raced last year winning the grade one Santa
Margarita and the grade two Chilukki. A little dissapointing on her seasonal debut she returned to her
best last time out in the grade three Bayakoa winning by an easy three lengths. As long as time isnt
catching up with her she is entitled to run very well here although there are a few young pretenders
ready to out sprint her at the end.
4 Ancient Royalty, trained by Paradise Stable
Comes up against a tough field here but her trainer has kept faith that she is up to this class and
they may be rewarded today. Second to Sinissippi Delite in the Bayakoa last time there doesnt seem
too many reasons why she can turn the tables on that one so she may have to settle for place money
again.
5 Ocala Exress, trained by D J C Racing Stables
A nice sort who has a chance in this but the wide draw may be enough to pass her over in a classy field. An improving three year old she capped a good year off with a nice win in the grade three Rampart. A short break saw her reappear in the Santa Monica Stakes where she ran fairly to be sixth but there was a bit more sparkle in her head second to Hydro in The Royal Delta last time out where she stalked the winner and tried very hard going down by just a head. There wont be too much between them again in this race and a table turn would not be a surprise.
SUMMARY
Well with racing so close you may as well choose a lottery number this race could go to any of these and will not be won by very far. It is hard to settle on one to win but i think Brawl Dead End may just have enough improvement in her to get a narrow win today.
