In my preview, the question was, does this lightly raced filly handle seven furlongs against this strong field when her only exposure to the distance was back in December 2024? Answer: Oh, hell, yes! The youngest lass in the field graciously accepted the five-pound weight allowance, grabbed the lead coming home and fought her way to the wire for a determined neck victory in only her thirteenth lifetime start.

2nd   Untidy                   Mb Stables           *2.45-1

Race favourite Untidy stalked from midpack until the stretch when she began an unrelenting march toward the lead that fell a neck short at the wire. Heart Of Joy kept enough speed up front throughout to keep Untidy wrongfooted to the wire and unable to change leads.

3rd   Grandest Lady                    La Canada Racehorses            13.20-1

Grandest Lady proved once again she’s not just another pretty face for six furlongs but will keep that speed going as long as necessary to reach the wire in a fight and light the board.

4th   Lady Lara                Night Mare Racing              7.05-1

Isn’t this a lovely lass? It is so hard to get any consistency out of deep closers, particularly sprinter types, but here is one that thrives on seven furlongs. She came within three-quarter lengths of winning the race, sadly that meant fourth in this particular race.
