The LS Handicap – Grade III
LS Race 6 1 1/16M – Dirt
Purse $200.000
Three Year Olds and Up
1st Highest Esteem, trained by Axeman
The old class horse got the job done right in the shadow of the wire to win the race by a nose. He had to go and catch the runner up and it took him the whole LS stretch to do it but he did it. I think the class of him kicked in and he knew where the wire was. He ran the distance in 1:41.23 and earned $120.000
2nd Checking Me Out, trained by Mb Stables
After sitting second and then going to the front he was not able to hold off the classy winner. He ran a very respectable race though and was only a nose shy of the victory. No doubt that this was a very effort and his trainer Mb Stables should not be disappointed with his run because it was a good one.
3rd Benzar, trained by TwinTowers Racing
This horse has finally busted through with a graded stakes placing after a bunch of tries at the level. He definitely didn’t run a bad race at all and actually ran a very respectable third place finish. He was making a late run at the top two but just could not get to them. A very good run from him.
4th L A Raw, trained by D J C Racing Stables
The runner from the wizards stable tried to come from farther back than anyone else in here as he sat next to last or last almost the whole way. He made up a little ground but it was definitely never going to be enough to catch the tip three since they finished up to four lengths in front of him.
Summary
A very exciting finish to this race saw my top pick come through and end up winning the race. He is a very good gutsy gelding that just loves to win. This was his eleventh career win and probably his most gutsy win ever. Congratulations to all the connections and especially the winner.
