WO Race #2 1 1/8m Dirt Stake
Purse $225.000 For Two Year Olds Foaled In Canada.
1 Supreme Confidence Mb Stables Hernandez R M
Mb Stables has targeted this one at the Statebred stakes and he has proved very useful winning three of four Including the Cup and Saucer last time out. Though that last win was on turf and this race is on dirt the fact that he won the Simcoe on this surface before suggests he can act on either. He gets the ace draw, is proven to stay this trip and along with an inform juvenile jockey gets the master Mb in his camp. If you had to find a chink in the armour it would be the extra 2Lb’s he gets in the way of a penalty but that in itself may not be enough to stop him.
2 Hollywood Artist Estero Farms Bahen S R
I liked the way this colt flew home to win his maiden last time after being taken way back from a wide draw. With the perfect draw today i guess the question will be where he will run best as in previous starts when closer to the pace he didnt really run on at the end like he did in his last start. Plenty of question marks but there is also enough potential to put him in with a chance.
3 Dawning Dovahkiin Mo Mentum Farm Boulanger G
Beaten 2 lengths in a ten dollar claimer and then 3 lengths in a grade three stakes pretty much sums up the class system here at HRP. Ignoring the runs in much lower grade and concentrating on his last start in the Nashua he may be a little over looked in this field because he ran pretty well to be seventh and was making ground at the end.
4 Lord City Our Athletes Garcia Alan
Made ground on debut and then got home over a longer trip last time out there looks a lot of upsides to this colt and he comes from a stable hitting good form. This trip will be right up his alley and he will be my best tip especially as he gets a couple of pounds from the likely favourite.
5 Ronaldo Chop Night Rider Stables Kimura K
Well tested he was behind Supreme Confidence in the Simcoe but was only beaten a neck and gets a 2Lb weight pull. His efforts over longer trip since have been fair but i am not sure he is better over longer so he again may find the MB Stables runner too tough.
6 Becket Mb Stables Wilson E J
It is interesting to see the second runner from the trainer drawn wide as he may just be the slightly better horse so it will be interesting to see how the champion trainer plays this one. He was mightily impressive in his last start when taking a statebred maiden and had previously raced as a maiden in the Iroquois and the Bourbon and done pretty well considering his status. His works are sharp and i think this trip will really suit.
7 Another Flip Axeman Contreras L
He has won three in a row now and although all at claiming level we know the grade of the race means very little and if he wasnt drawn out in the car park i would be tipping him for the win. An on pace type he will need to get some favors from the race engine but if he can get a good run he could be tough to beat.
SUMMARY
This looks between Another Flip, Becket and Lord City to me and although pretty much anything could win they would make up my trifecta.
