The Davona Dale Stakes

grade 2 distance 1 mile on the dirt at GP.

As we approach the ninth leg on the road to the Kentucky Oaks, these nine contenders will determine who will arrive in Kentucky on the first Friday in May.
It’s impressive that Purple Charge has been as consistent as any filly in her campaign to chase the crown. The Breeders Cup Juvenile filly runner-up is definitely a force with which to reckon and should be on her game.
Striving for perfection in sports is a common goal. It’s impressive watching Mardi Gras Marriage achieve such a perfect performance, winning the Las Virgenes grade 2 stakes and bringing Jive Inc. to the forefront of points. It must have been reassuring for those who have been cheering him and his charge on.
The Martha Washington competition has proven to be the most challenging KY Oaks points race to date. With fierce competition and high stakes, only the best rose to the occasion. The Davona stakes have three of those that faced that competition.  Twin Towers Racing had Double Zee which finished strong, coming in at a close third. MB Stables’ Be Yourself also gave a good performance, finishing fourth while Superb just didn’t run well.
Interesting! It sounds like Delta Farms has a promising horse on their hands with their Pa Bred, and Nazca Lines must be quite talented to have won two races in a row, including the Forward Lass Stakes.
It seems that Mo Mentum Filly was really impressive in the Santa Ynez Stakes but didn’t perform as well in her next start at The Forward Gal Stakes. I can understand why MB Stables might be scratching their heads about her performance. It’s always tough when a horse doesn’t fire right back.
There are also some other pretty talented fillies in the field as well. These fillies have to be mentioned, Prevail, Storm Up, Line of Flight, and Beach Towel. All of these thoroughbreds put together some impressive performances in the past. It’ll be interesting to see how they fare.
