The Devil Looks to Get a First Season Win in The Beaugay

The Beaugay – Grade III
BEL   Race #4   1 1/16m   Turf   Graded Stake
Purse $200.000  For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1  Devil Wears Prada   Axeman    Ortiz I Jr

This seven year old mare is one of the most popular mares to ever race at HRP. She has been consistently competitive at the top level for four seasons now and she always gives her best. Her last time out effort when beaten only a nose in the grade one Wiley was as good as anything she has done in the past and i am sure many will be hoping for yet another black type win today.

2  Gran Psycho    M.a.r Racing    Ortiz J L
An up and comer who has won her last two races very nicely she may find this race comes a bit soon in her career.

3  Peppermint Miss    Allinthegate    Arroyo A S
The winner of 6 of the 13 races she has competed in she has been gradually upped in grade and has done very well so far this season. She ran a great race to be beaten just a head in the Buena Vista and was then very good in the Royal Heroine last time when failing by just a half length to get to Trump Princess. This is the perfect trip for her and she will again go very close to winning.

4  On The Straight    Mb Stables    Colon L H
She is a winner in both the draw and the jockey stakes so as far as that goes she can’t fail to run a big race. As for her form, well she has won over 50% of the races she has run in and her efforts this year suggests she is in top form. Beaten just a nose in the Hillsborough she then ran a great race in the Fox to be beaten under a length by Well Built so is certainly good enough on that sort of showing. There is a lot pointing to her victory.

5  Must Be Nice    John Henry    Velazquez J R
A consistent sort on anything but a softer surface she is one that will definitely not want to see rain. A nice winner of the South Beach on seasonal debut she was narrowly beaten in an allowance last time but that isnt too worrying considering the lack of class structure at HRP. Sure to run well but ay find one or two too good.

6  Cats Landing    D J C Racing Stables   Pennington F
A decent enough sort who has taken well to being upped in grade, she is very consistent with an excellent win record. She is working well although she has yet to really prove she can live with this sort of class and with an awkward draw may not be a contender today.

7  Take Faith    Night Rider Stables   Franco M
Bought cheaply at auction last year she ended the year with a game win in the grade one American Oaks last year and has been given plenty of time to grow and rest this year. A seasonal debut in March saw her weaken lat over a mile but she will strip fitter to day and should last longer. The wider draw probably means she will go to the front and she may be vulnerable there if the track isnt playing to speed.

8  Miss Darna    Maxmillion Farm    Carmouche K
The runner up in the grade one Taylor last year she has been pretty competitive since and took the Marshua River on seasonal debut over this trip. The wide draw may mean she is taken back but the way she finished last time out in the Royal Heroine from a similar suggests that with a little help from the race engine she can get over the top of them in this.

SUMMARY
I Can’t go past the great Devil Wears Prada in this who certainly has the form if she can time her finish from this draw. There are plenty f other chances though with On The Straight looking to have plenty of things going for her and Miss Darna and peppermint Miss sure to be finishing strongly.
