1st The Ego Has Landed TwinTowersRacing Bejarano R
Well i did say in the preview for this race that this one looked an improving sort but to think it could beat People Doubted, Techfluence and the third place BC classic finisher was a bit of a stretch. But in true HRP style just when you think you have it all worked out you get a result like this. Sitting way way off the pace this gelding who only broke his maiden 6 months ago came with a Zenyatta like late run to grab victory by a head. This win would make his FG Handicap victor penitentiary one of the best trf horse in the game as he gave him weight and a beating in that race but sadly form lines dont work out quite like that. So where do we place this horse in the game? Clearly he has gone through a steep rise in his improvement curve and looks the type that will stay forever so on this performance he looks a contender for the November cha, championship races but i think i will need to see another win like this before i am 100% convinced. Congrats to the trainer who has been a great supporter and player of this game and if anyone deserves a win like this its them.
2nd Purely Perfect Night Rider Stables Maragh Ro
This horse demonstrated just how flexible horses running styles are here at HRP as he went from making all to win a claimer last time over this trip to coming from a mile behind with the winner to just fail today by only a head. Who would have thought he would beat Techfluence and People Doubted and still not win this race? Well thats what happened in this surprising Excata. Again like the winner we will have to see this sort of effort repeated before fully trusting this result but on the face of it it looks like Night Rider Stables has a great long distance turfer on his hands.
3rd Techfluence The Sidley Stud Ortiz I Jr
After stalking the leading it looked like he was on his way to yet another win with 2 furlongs to run but he really doesnt like an off track and he was found out in the end by a couple of deep closers. I wouldnt want to bet against him beating these two on a dry track but today he was only third best.
4th Lets Do It Big Boy RNP Stables Hernandez B J Jr
He stayed on well enough for fourth but never really looked like the winner despite getting within a length at the end. He continues to run well at this level and there is more fun to be had with him but today he was found wanting in a peculiar sort of race.
