9 DMR DMR Debutante (GI)
$300.000 2yoF 7f Dirt 120lbs
The end of the DMR Summer meet is upon us, but some big stakes race action is still in front of us as a full field of twelve are ready to go seven panels in the DMR Debutante (GI). Past winners are a who’s-who of fine female horseflesh, and this is a nice purse, so expect a great race. I took At Tea as the top choice off of that local win in the CTBA Stakes, back last month. That makes it two in a row, and let’s see if she can build off of that. Aghast comes from the hot Mb Stables barn and is lightly raced, this being her fourth start and first stakes race. We know he comes for the cash, so… give her a look.
Here’s The Field –
Two wins from three starts, but her only stakes effort, the FT Debutante at SA, was an up-the-track finish. She bounced back nice to take down high-end Alw types at SAR, so she could wake up in this one and make some noise.
She’s been close in all starts, including that third in the ELP Debutante, last out. She broke maiden at BEL prior to that, taking down empire State Breds that afternoon, so she fits well and should continue to be a factor.
Broke maiden at PRX, vs. State-Breds, then tired to be eighth in the Debutante at CD, and again in the Catch A Glimpse at WO, in her most recent trip to the gate. She could surprise, but it will have to be without my $2.
Nice win at WO to break maiden, then got out finished at SAR in the Adirondack, in her most recent trip to the gate. She pressed the pace in that race, only to watch a bunch go by her in the last furlong, so that has to change.
Second part of the 3-horse Fractious outfit and she looked good breaking maiden at WO, then winning an Alw race at WO. He was fourth in that ELP Debutante race, certainly nothing to be ashamed of, and another like that could be dangerous here.
Nice maiden win at MTH in her third trip to the gate, then won over this track taking down state-bred stakes company in the CTBA Stakes. She looked game in that race and should carry that form over to graded horses… if she does, she will be hard to get past.
Live was good in AZ… broke maiden at first asking, then won the TUP Open Spring Futurity, but she’s only beaten two horses in her last two races, an eleventh in the Debutante at CD and a tenth in the CTBA Stakes, here. Something has to change or it’s going to be a long day at the office.
No stakes races, but the big barn has been bringing this one along nicely, breaking maiden at CD, at second asking, then a solid third vs. Alw types at SAR. This barn knows a horse, so give her a big look when you head to the windows.
This one may be looking forward to going back to Arcadia… broke maiden at first asking, then a solid second in the FT Debutante, but she went to SAR and only beat one in the Schuylerville (GIII) and was seventh in that CTBA race.
Got the job done over this track last out, breaking maiden by two… and that’s a good thing. But the time wasn’t head-turning, so it will be interesting to see if she had more in the tank, or if it was a weak group.
Third part of the Fractious trio and she looked good winning here last out, taking down open MSW types, but again, the time wasn’t anything to make me say wow, so we will have to see if she was toying with them and is ready to step it up a notch.
Scratch
Broke maiden at FP, then was claimed for $7.500 at LAD last out. This is the deep end of the pool, so she will really have to show a bit more… notice the change in equip/meds, so they may have found something with this one.
