CC Jewel
CD Race #11 1 1/8m Dirt Stake
Purse $200.000 For Three Year Olds And Upward. Additional Requirements: Have started for a claiming price of $35.00 or less since 1/1/2023.

1 Wild Girl Mb Stables Landeros C 124 —

The champion trainer switches this one from a five furlong turf sprint to a nine furlong dirt stakes race and if anyone else did that I would be very skeptical. BUT this one race winner went to AQU and worked a dirt mile in 1.36 and 1 suggesting that Mb Stables is about to pull off another unlikely looking coup and show once again why he is the king of the game.

2 Rebel Agenda Night Rider Stables Beschizza A 124 —

Looking at his form lines this year you have to wonder how he is running in this series, but that is HRP where a claimer can turn into a stakes winner overnight and that is what makes this claiming championship so interesting and highly competitive. Second in the grade three Valedictory and the winner of a hot allowance at SAR he certainly brings some great form for a race like this and racing from a great draw must be a good chance.

3 Schopenhauer Maxmillion Farm Cohen D 124 —

Talking of great form for a race like this it doesn’t get better than this horse who was second beaten a neck in the grade one California Crown and second beaten a quarter length in the Fayette, Ahead of Rebel Agenda when second in the Valedictory it is impossible to find one with better credentials than this horse and running from a great draw he must be a favorite to win.

4 Queen Size Czech Out Farms Leparoux J R 124 —

Gets a run here and a few years back wouldn’t have looked out of place but this series has become hotter and hotter in recent seasons and now it is as good as any graded stakes. That fact makes it tough for this one who is more of a traditional claiming type. Not a bad sort but looks outclassed by the best in this field.

5 Dragons Teeth Alydar Stables Corrales G 126 —

Took out the Appreciation Mile last time and gets a penalty for it which may end his winning chances. He is certainly good enough to win on his works and form but he comes up against a couple of very good rivals and with the extra weight it may be too much to expect the win, Each way all day though and don’t leave him out of your trifecta’s

6 The Godfather III Sim Speed Stable Gaffalione T 122 —

A three year old with a few pounds over his rivals he certainly looks the type that can bring it home for the younger generation. He won a decent all aged allowance at AQU last time and was a close second in the Plate Trial so whilst he hasn’t got the form of some of the older horses he does have that two pounds which when put alongside his very strong mile works makes him an attractive proposition.

7 Moytoy Bay D J C Racing Stables Geroux F 124 —

A stakes winning two year old he went off the boil for a long time but just recently has been looking like he may be coming back to his best. Picking up checks at stakes level in his last three and working really nicely he may have found that improvement curve again and could be heading towards a big year in 2025.

8 Family Tradition Luz International Santana R Jr 126 —

Another that picks up a penalty as he took the Empire Classic last time he is at a disadvantage with Moytoy Boy after they finished upsides each other in the PID Mile but actually he was racing with the same penalty that day so these two should be very close again. A two-time stakes winner this year, the only really questionable thing is that penalty against a tough field. Another in-form horse that is a must for trifectas, but that weight and the draw may make it too tough for the win.

9 Fox Final Time Invicta Group Llc Saez L 124 —

Another of those runners that looks out of place in a claiming series as he is a grade one runner up this year and is riding some good form at the moment. That second came in the Metropolitan Handicap over the mile, but he was a little less competitive over shorter trip in his last two before being sold to his current owner. Since then, he is two from two picking up a nice allowance win at SA last time with a speed figure of 97. The only real draw back here is the wide draw, but the wide gate speed push may aid him early and if he finds the front he could be hard to get past.

10 Marcus Antoninus Mb Stables Garcia Mar 124 —

Another that has developed into a stakes quality horse, this one was third in the Ghostzapper early in the year but was in a claimer by July when Mb Stables made the claim. A little disappointing in his two efforts for the new yard albeit in much better-quality races he is certainly up to this level, the question is can he do it from the car park.

SUMMARY

There is some great stakes form in this race and the best of those with that CV may be Schopenhauer. The good form doesn’t end there though but I have an itch to scratch with Wild Girl in this race and if she is decent odds may be tempted at putting some money in Mb’s faith this this is a dirt router just waiting to happen. I like the three-year-old The Godfather III to offer some value too.
