The Bloom Handicap – Grade II
6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $250.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.
1st Catch Me If I Fall The A Stable Velazquez J R
Well dont say i didnt tell you, yes, if you had just listened to me you could have got this winner with your Disney Dollars at 92/1.
The starting price here was a reflection of this fillies chances if this was a real life race but punters sometimes forget this is a computer game and if you look at it from that perspective it is no surprise that this four year old broke her maiden in a grade two handicap.
So why was i so sure a maiden could win this race? Well the favorite in second place was giving her 5Lbs, thats worth a good length in this game, next she was drawn in the sweet spot of 2, thats worth a little bit too, and finally she was outworking the field despite being beaten in three maidens. Add all those up and to be honest i dont know why she didnt start odds on favorite but then that would have looked silly….right?
To be fair this filly is a lot better than a maiden and with two of her three runs being on turf you have to ask the question, why on earth wasnt she running on dirt? Well i guess only the trainer knows that but today they got it all right and now have a filly that could well set up a sequence in this type of race. She won with plenty in hand today coming from a few lengths back and winning by a length and she really does look to have a bright future. This is the trainers first ever graded stakes success so huge congratulations to them for recognizing they had something very special in the barn.
2nd Starlite Run D J C Racing Stables Franco M
You would think a grade one winner could give five pounds and a beating to a 3 race maiden but what you have to remember is that at the end of the day this is just a computer game that has no idea what is a maiden and what is a stakes winner. This filly did everything right with top weight today but when there is a freak like the winner in the race and you have to give away the draw and weight it is very hard to come out on top. With a different draw and on level weights well you would have to say she would have a chance of turning the tables.
3rd Snakie Pleasure Maxmillion Farm Centeno D E
Led them out at a fairly strong pace and did what most front runners do and faded at the end. She was only beaten a length in the end but this happened last time she broke to the lead so it will be no surprise to the trainer.
4th Steel Calling Mb Stables Bejarano R
Stalked just off the leader but found little at the end and it has to be said she was a little disappointing. She ran similar splits than she did last time out and again was out finished suggesting she is probably better being ridden with a little more restraint or that she needs a bit further and can’t quicken in sprints.
