ONT Fashion Stakes – Grade III
WO Race #2 6f Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $150.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.
1 Silver Setbus, trained by Ekli Stable
This three year old took her time to hit the black type races winning three lower level allowances before being unleashed at the upper levels. A clear cut win in the ungraded Aspen Cup encouraged her trainer enough to take another giant leap in grade to The Priores and once again she met the challenge by very nearly getting the win going down by a game neck. She had Roller Coaster behind that day and should confirm that placing and with her obvious improvement and some swift work times she is the one to beat.
2 T S Devil, trained by Triple K
This lovely five year old had been having a great season finishing a close third in The Vinery and taking both the grade three Hendrie Stakes and the grade two Princess Rooney Handicap and on that form alone would have been a good chance in this race. However the older horses can nose dive quickly at HRP and her last start had the alarm bells ringing as she ran no sort of race in The PID Masters finishing a well beaten tenth. She is a lovely mare with a great strike rate but you ignore HRP abnormalities at your peril and i cant support her in this.
3 Turn On The Lights, trained by D J C Racing Stables
The right age but her form and works are just not good enough to win this. Ignoring her last start there was nothing wrong with her close second in the Duchess Stakes on this track but i am not sure she can find the extra leg she will need to beat one or two of these.
4 Roller Coaster, trained by John Henry
Another that went in the package that Blushing meadows sold John Henry this one doesnt look one of the best of them. She was pretty ordinary in the Priores and whilst her works arent too bad she may find a couple too good for her today. I would like to see her ridden with a bit of restraint here though and if she doesnt go off too quick will be in at the finish.
5 Cozzene Special, trained by Night Rider Stables
Has been struggling along with most of the four year olds at HRP but as they start to catch up she has shown enough to suggest she can run a big race here. Beaten just a length in fifth in both the Vinery Madison and the Humana Distaff she also ran well for a long way in the PID Masters eventually finishing seventh after making the running from a wide gate. She is working well and will get a chance but i still dont think she can catch the three year old.
6 Chilli Time, trained by Rockitpad
Rockitpad has kept this one out of the black type races whilst the three year olds have been dominating and she has been running consistently enough in overnights to suggest she retains her three year old ability. Her recent works suggest she is ready for this challenge and she may well be the best of the older horses and the main rival to the top choice.
7 Kians Dream, trained by Mb Stables
Rather typical of the types of three year olds hailing from this massive stable she has been mopping up lower level races as others have been competing in the stakes races. She gets her chance today and if she can cope with the wide draw she will have every chance of adding to the trainers domination.
SUMMARY
Well this looks between Chili Time and Silver Setbus to me with the three year old having the edge thanks to the weight allowance. You cant write off Mb’s runner who has been slumming it on the one cent slots and may just take this step up if she can find a way round the wide draw.
