The Pin May Be Easiest Way to Find San Vicente Stakes Winner

San Vicente Stakes – Grade II

2/15/2016   16:50   2/13/2016 3:00   SA   Race #5   7f   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $200.00  For Three Year Olds.

1 Fly Millenium, trained by Blushing Meadows
Good in overnights but a little dissapointing in Stakes races you have to wonder whether this gelding was born with the rather important ‘class’ gene. The mile looked a bit too far in the Sham last time so this trip will suit better but there are enough question marks on him to pass him over for now.

2 Diamond Time, trained by Mb Stables
Unbeaten in five this talented three year old has followed the stables ethos of winning being the best form having won at just about every level track from free to high. After taking a little RET overnight he then got home by a neck in the Golden State Juvenile Stakes before returning to overnights to just get home in a three runner race at SA. His works have been quick and although he hasnt taken on the calibre of horse that Fly Milenium has he looks as good as him on paper.

3 Grandeur, trained by Mb Stables
Followed a more traditional route into stakes racing taking the grade one Hopeful in his fourth start. Since then he has failed to win again but was close up in the BC Juvenile and The Champagne and looks a class abover most of these. On works he is no better than anything else so you have to trust form and that seems to mean less and less in these three year old races, however, all in all he looks a major chance.

4 Carry The Lillies, trained by Chili King Stables
Broke his maiden at the fourth attempt but then failed to stay the trip in the Brett Futurity. He returned to sprinitng but looked to have lost his mojo and was rested after a November race. His seasonal debut was good but in much lesser company so on all known form you could leave him out without losing too much sleep.

5 Nebraska III, trained by Drabfantasy
You cant get much better than one run for one win and with the stable in white hot form he could be an easy choice for the win. With his debut win just over three weeks ago he is one of the fittest in the race and his works are amoungst the best so even with limited form he has a great chance.

6 Marvin, trained by Asgar
Has to be put in the outsider pile with just one win and some distinctly average runs apart from that. His works arent too bad but a tick off the others so it would be a major surprise to see him winning today.

7 Chester Cheetah, trained by Aer Stables
Bought at auction as a maiden for fifty dollars he looked a good buy in winning his seasonal debut by an easy two lengths. His recent mile work was very strong and he really could be anything. You have to trust one work and a low track maiden win though if you want to pile your handicapping dollars on this one.

8 Yankee Baseball, trained by TwinTowersRacing
Has been tested in his two races since a good debut maiden win but ran well enough in both of them to suggest he has plenty of ability. The trip may have just been too far in the Jerome last time but he still ran well enough to suggest he has a chance.
He is race fit and will be suited by this trip, if he can overcome the draw he should run well.

9 Viking Tiz, trained by Delta Farms
A winner of three from four he has a couple of good runs in stakes to his name and is working well enough to give him a big chance. The draw will be the key for him though, if he is thrown onto the speed he may find it tough to hold on but if manageing to get midpack may well prove too strong at the end.

SUMMARY

A tough race to call you just have to decide which form line you want to follow. On black type form you have to like Yankee Baseball, Granduer and Fly Millenium but if you are looking for an upcomer then Diamond Time, Nebraska III and Viking Tiz may be the way to  go. Either way dont expect more than a length between the first four.
