The trainer has a knack these days with the juveniles and they have produced another here that looks like she will make the mark. When she won the Adirondack coming from a poor gate and from way off the pace she looked like a route trip was going to bring out the best in her and though she only managed fourth in the Pocahontas in her last start that was confirmed in her effort. She again got back from her draw but with any luck this gate will allow her to lay up a bit closer and if she can get out in time we may see her finishing strongest.
2 Untouched Talent John Henry Van Dyke D
Second to Never Forgotten in the Adirondack she was also drawn wide and took option B when drawn wide going up on the pace. In the end the usual happened and the horses swapped places with this one beaten a length. She was ridden a bit further back in the DMR Debutante last time and finished well to get second again beaten a length. She gets into the magic box today so after two nasty draws will be in draw heaven. This may prove a quick pay back for the new owner who bought this one from another stalled fire sale for $300.
3 Skyhigh Haggis The Sidley Stud Geroux F
Won on debut and has done well without winning since. Her last two efforts over sprint trips have been decent enough being third in the Shady Well and the Muskoka Stakes and i guess the big question will be the trip today .Being a daughter of Ginger Haggis she should appreciate the trip and with a great draw i would give her a decent chance at odds.
4 Risen Day Mb Stables Talamo J
Another bought in the leaving sale that wasnt she only cost $10.000 but is clearly worth more than that and was probably part of sum mates rates or package deal. She ran better than her finishing position suggests in the Pocahontas when taken back off a wide draw and staying on into sixth through the traffic. Her win in the Fisher Debutante before that was very strong and with a sub 1.37 work she may end up yet another Mb Stables qualifier for the BC.
5 Lady Zigmund La Canada Racehorses Da Silva E R
She got her maiden win when put over a route for the first time last time out. Coming from off the pace she got there in plenty of time and won handily by a length. She really could be anything and there is certainly improvement in her works and runs but its hard to make too much of a case on her bare form.
6 Bite The Bullet Mb Stables Velazquez J
The second stable runner this one has won two from three but has yet to run beyond six and a half furlongs. She was a strong winner in the Seeking The Ante last time and her sire Spring Lover has some stamina there so she may get this trip OK but i actually prefer her stable mate even though the market probably wont.
7 How Trait Gdp Inc Franco M
The trainer has been pulling a few out of the hat recently and this one represents another with a good chance. I like the way she finished off to be fourth in the Spinaway beaten just a couple of lengths but she has a sticky draw to deal with in this and may again get a bit too far back unless the trainer can find the right buttons to click. Like most of them a case can be made for her and she is working in the right parameters.
8 Drink Me Pretty Jader Stable Gaffalione T
Bought for fifty dollars after she went from pay maiden to free allowance wins she immediately came out and paid the new owner back with a comprehensive front running win in the Rio Grande Senorita Futurity. She hasnt been beyond five and a half furlongs so the trip is a big question especially from this draw but she is a progressive sort who deserves her shot.
9 Toppled Estero Farms Contreras L
Really improved on her first two runs when stepped up in trip winning a BEL maiden by a very impressive four lengths. Its really hard to know how much more she can improve but the trainer knows how to get them into the BC and she will be doing her best.
10 Watheerah Team 7 Illusions Bridgmohan
Third in the Pocahontas from the perfect draw today she is out wide so i cant see her better than about fifth.
11 Antiquated Story Nakamura Stables Beschizza A
Looked good winning her maiden over a mile but that GG maiden is a long way from this level and her draw is a long way from the rail. Both those facts will make it very tough.
13 Cryin Out Rampage Stable Rosario J
Gets in off the ballot but i cant see her troubling these.
SUMMARY
For me the action is all inside and i expect Never Forgotten and Risen Day to fight out the finish.
