The Wonder Again
1 1/8 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.
Not much covered the field at the end of this race but there wasn’t many complaints over the result as the six fillies all ran to their best to make a decent race of it. Here is how they went:
1st Summer Sun, trained by Chili King Stables
This filly has always looked like she needed a test of stamina and she got just that in this race. She was taken off the pace but was always travelling well and as they entered the stretch she was making good ground, flying in the last furlong to win by a half-length. This was a nice effort by this consistent filly and it all looks in front of her at the moment,
2nd Geek watch, trained by Nakamura Stables
The weight was always going to be tough for this classy filly and so it proved as she bravely tried to make all the running but just failed. Clear and travelling well for much of the race the improbable looked probable for a while but in the end she just failed to last home. This was a great effort under a hefty burden though and I would expect to see her competitive in black types with better conditions.
3rd Alayne, trained by Night Mare Racing
With only a single win to her name she ran a lot better than I expected keeping on from a loose stalk for a decent third. What she lacks in a turn of foot she made up with heart as she battled on well.
4th King Tyrion, trained by GlueFactory
Got a fair way back and stayed on pretty well for fourth, this wasn’t a bad effort and there is clearly some ability here.
5th Sodas Boom, trained by Wolfs Den
Trailed the field for a long way and ran on well to be fifth. Her style of running needs to be addressed as she keeps getting too far back in her races.
6th Cat 7 Storm, trained by Downwind Stables
Broke to the stalk but didn’t stick around for long and was a pretty disappointing last.
