La Lorgnette Stakes
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $125.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

There was more of a weight spread in this race than their are in most handicaps and with a pound equalling about ten lengths here on HRP there was always going to be a chance the feather weight would win. In the end she needed every ounce of her advantage, heres how they went:

1st Eviction, trained by Mb Stables

With the least stakes form but a healthy weight advantage this previously pretty average looking filly found a great opportunity to open up her black type account. Running the stalk she kept on gamely for a head win after a perfect ride from Alan Garcia. I don’t think she is going to be a World beater but clearly has a pretty good motor and deserved her win today.

2nd Behrens Bride, trained by Big Jd Racing

You had to feel for this brave filly as she tried to make all and only got collared when the 129Lbs she was carrying finally got the better of her. On levels the best filly in the race, todays second was a good effort but was always going to be tough.

3rd Unsecured, trained by team 7 Illusions

Was given far too much to do and though she finished very strongly she could not quite pick up the leaders ending up a very close third.

4th Hellonheels, trained by Wolf Ridge Stables

This was a funny race with two horses way out in front and two way behind. In the end of course in true HRP style all the horses finished within a couple of lengths of each other with the two closers misjudging the race completely.
