There Is Nothing to Be Sorry About in The Remsen

We have seen a good few wide gate closers recently it is almost like the old engine has been resurrected for the last month of the year. Ten lengths behind at halfway the winner of the Grey Stakes was biding his time as the leaders set a pace that was never going to stand up. The key here was getting the run as the leaders weakened and whilst they don’t tend to weaken as badly as they used to the right choices were made by the AI and this one pulled wide. Still a long way back coming into the final furlong he ran that final furlong like he had wings on his hooves and must’ve broken some records for a final furlong as he dashed to the line, in the end, a pretty comfortable winner. He is building a pretty impressive record with his third stakes win in a row and must head into the Christmas period as a real KYD chance.

Thanks to the suicidal pace the leader had to run to get the lead off the wide gates this one found a place in mid pack. It looked as if he may not finish the race off at halfway but after being a little flat footed, he got going int the final quarter and ran through the pack to end up second. On pace and weakening in The Champagne, mid pack and running on strongly today, who said instructions are dead. I liked this effort, and he certainly has ability and after two wide gates in a row and managing two solid efforts, I feel there is more to come from him.

3rd Test The Waters Mb Stables Saez L

He had to run splits between the four- and six-furlong points to get rid of the wide gate speed and they were just too tough to sustain in the end. At the furlong pole it still looked like he had a big enough lead to hold on, but he was running in quicksand and the post must’ve looked a mile away. In the end this was a pretty remarkable effort from the front runner, and he proved that he can act on turf or dirt which isn’t unusual at HRP but does give the trainer plenty of options for next year.

4th Doc Rivers D J C Racing Stables Lopez P

Took up a decent enough position but the pace was always going to suit those coming from further behind and he just struggled in the last furlong to find the breath for a final charge. This was a solid run though.
