This is a pretty poor field for a grade three stakes race so it brings into the reckoning horses like this that wouldn’t normally be considered a threat at this stage of her career. Consistent enough at lower level she took her maiden at TUP over five furlongs last time out but had previously been well beaten on the same track when attempting a longer trip.
Though her form isn’t inspiring her works have been OK and it is clear she is improving so with the ace draw she has a bit of a chance today in a short field.

2       Table For One          Alydar Stables      Espinoza V

Another one with just four starts she has pretty good form for a race like this though i just wonder whether she would have a better chance if this race was run on the dirt. She won her maiden at TAM on the dirt and also an allowance at WO but sandwiched between those wins was a second in an optional claimer on her only start on turf. Her dirt works are very good and if she can get through the turf today she looks an attractive bet from the ideal draw.

3         Calming Angie          Arindel           Fuentes Ru

Generally running in sprints she has won two from eight and placed in an ungraded sprint last time in a fast time. I would give her a great chance if this was 5 furlongs but if a horse can go further anywhere then its HRP so i rate her a good chance here. The trainer is in good form and with a small field the pace could be slow enough that she could show her speed in the second half of the race.

4         Hgh As A Kite         Jive Inc.        Gutierrez Mario

Ina field that features very little stakes form this one looks a stand out. The winner of the grade three Durante last year she is no world beater but does have the best chance on paper here. The safe bet but i don’t think she is clearly the best.

5         Congrats Storm           Arindel            Gonzalez Ru

Only one win from nine is hardly inspiring but she has been thereabouts over this trip at allowance level and this is no KYO so she must be considered. She certainly has the advantage in that this surface and trip may be her best which can’t be said for the rest of these.

SUMMARY

A disappointing field for this so we may see a filly break through a graded level that wouldn’t normally be considered. I feel Table For One may be the best filly in the race and if she acts on the grass will win. Of the rest you have to respect the two Arindel runners but the safe one may be Hgh As A Kite who at least has some graded stakes form.
