1 Spin Zone Mb Stables Velazquez J R 123 —

I don’t often see this trainer with an entry carrying a penalty, but they must be pretty keen to see just how good this one is after he took the Dania Beach last time in a slick 1.32 and 4. He gets another good draw to be able to sit on the pace and must be a contender even with the extra two pounds.

2 Smokin Access Red Fox Farms Ruiz Jo 121 —

Still a maiden but worked significantly faster than the Dania Beach winner inside him so it seems clear he is much better than a non-winner. The fact that he is working faster than all the stakes winners in this race and races from gate two really does put a giant tick in his box. Can this maiden win?

3 Courtesan Arindel Zayas E J 121 —

Well, they say this place is like Hotel California but it’s always good to see some old faces and this trainer who had a massive scale down last year finds themselves back in the big time with this recent claim. Working strongly, he has yet to prove himself beyond being a good maiden winner at TUP, but the works say he is clearly better than that. He may need a bit more restraint than he has shown in his last three races in this class, but he gets a favorable draw and may just look at a mid-pack position to launch a bit later.

4 Full Access Mb Stables Franco M 121 —

Impressive in his maiden last time in a slick winning time he has got the best draw he has had so far so must be a strong chance. His works are very good recording a 1.35 and 1 between his races and he may turn out to be the best from the three entries from the champion trainer.

5 Knight Knight Sim Speed Stable Corbett G W 121 —

Having a first start on the turf, we haven’t got anything to really go on to assess his chances but he was pretty good on the dirt so I wouldn’t expect him not to be competitive. He has always looked like a mile plus will bring out the best in him and he certainly represents the dark horse in this race.

6 Cloud Computing Mb Stables Hernandez R M 121 —

Another maiden and another that is working well enough to be a stakes winner. A slick seven-furlong work says the trainer didn’t put him here to be an also ran.

7 Louis Litt Chili King Stables Husbands M J 121 —

Plenty of form about this one and he won’t have to find much on his Dania Beach third to be part of this finish. That effort where he raced with a bit of cover was much better than his run in the Zumba Beach so I would expect Husbands to be looking to slot on somewhere just off the speed. With luck from a sticky draw he should be a chance.

8 Dragon Nakamura Stables Perez Edg 121 —

There is a lot of speed in this race and this is another who has looked effective off the front. Yet to face this caliber of horse he is working very well so there seems no reason why he can’t do well at this level.

9 Cross Traffic D J C Racing Stables Moore R L 121 —

He ran in some good races last year and looked pretty good in a couple of them. I am not entirely sure he is suited for this trip, but he has a cool head on his back today so may be looking to come at them late.

10 Robert Zane Chili King Stables Rodriguez A R 123 —

Another carrying a penalty and another that has been running on the speed and it certainly won’t be easy to get away with soft fractionals on the front end here, He has run pretty well in some good races and as expected has work times that can compete so whilst he does look more exposed than some, he has every right to run a race.

11 Canyon Wind High Voltage Lopez P 121 —

Tried to make all in the Dania Beach but just got pipped, he is yet another on speed type. Racing from the wide draw, the wide gate speed push may give him the best chance of leading and he very nearly held on last time, so I would expect him to be in it for a long way.

12 Last King Riggins Racing Husbands P 123 —

A penalty and a wide gate, there is plenty against this one winning here, but I do like the fact that he will go back from this draw and may be able to pick them up wide as we have seen in so many stakes races so far this year.

SUMMARY

This race has the look of a speed battle and if that happens then it could be a horse like Last King that gets the last run at them and prevails. The two maidens in this race both look a bit special and one of those winning will not surprise as would any of the Mb entries. I will however go for another closing type in Knight Knight as a long shot for a place.
