Ran in the SA Derby Grade I in April to finish fourth by four lengths. Prior to that he ran off the board in the Grade II San Felipe. Three back he won an Open Allowance going a Mile at SA. Stepping up today, might be a bigger feat than he is expecting.
2 In Control Owned by Mb Stables Ortiz J L
In March ran in the Grade III Spiral at TP where he came from off the pace to finish third by ¾ of a length. Prior to that he was down at FG in the Risen Star Grade II where he also came from off the pace to finish third by a length. Expect to find In Control coming from well off the pace today. He could surprise everyone if he is given the right pace.
3 Conquest Owned by D J C Racing Stables Contreras L
Bombed in the Grade I BG. He was also tested in the Grade III El Camino, where he finished tenth. When he dropped class into an Optional Claimer $25.000 Non Winners of 2 races, where he finished second. In that race, he came from off the pace. I think he is out classed here.
4 Gma Is My Hero Owned by Aer Stables Maragh R
Finished a decent fourth by a length in the BG Stakes Grade I, after coming from off the pace. His only win came from his Maiden Special Weight against NY Breds on the sod. Three back he finished second by two lengths against open Allowance Non Winners of 1 race. Not very consistent, but he did a nice job in the Grade I race. Tough call!
5 Stonecold Owned by Waldo Velasquez C H
Made his debut after being gelded. He ran in the Grade II Rebel where he finished sixth by three lengths. Prior to being gelded he ran in the Grade III Southwest, where he ran fifth. His last win came over the good going at SUN in the Hedema Stakes for a purse of $85.000 against NM Breds. Looks like a big step up for this gelding.
6 Elektrant Owned by Miata Farm Velazquez J R
Struggled in the last two big races he was in. He ran sixth in the Wood Memorial Grade I at AQU. Prior to that he ran in the Fountain Of Youth Grade II at GP where he ran seventh. His last win came against CA Breds in an Optional Claimer $20.000 Non Winners of 2 races. A bit out classed here compared to others here.
7 Fatal Dream Owned by GlueFactory Franco M
His only win came from his Maiden win in November 2014 at CD against Maiden Special Weights. Since then he has only landed on the board once. That was two races after his Maiden win. He raced in the CA Derby at GG where he finished second by two lengths. Another that is bit in over his head.
8 Skeleton Balle Owned by Mb Stables Leparoux J R
Comes off two consecutive wins since he was claimed for $15.000. He won his first race under new ownership in an Allowance for Non Winners of 3 races Lifetime. Then he went ot TP in March to race in the Grade III Spiral to win by a neck. Looks well placed here as he is ready to take on tough competition. Does have a tougher go coming from the 8 post position.
9 Christmas Damsel Owned by Mb Stables Bejarano R
Another one to come in off two consecutive wins. His last win was in the IL Derby a Grade III event. Prior to that he won an Allowance Non Winners of 1 race. He looked really good in the IL Debry Grade III. Only down fall for this colt is the outside post.
10 Pink Devil Owned by Rouge River Stables Olguin G L
Recently sold for $300.000 and today makes his first race for his new owner. His last race he finished seventh in the Grade II LA Derby. He finished second in the Grade II Risen Star. Could fight his way through this crowd, but just like his last race, I think the outside post will hurt.
11 Steel Suited Owned by Mb Stables Rosario J
Ran a good race in the Wood Memorial Grade I to finish third by ¾ of a length. Prior to that he broke his Maiden at TP in March. I expect that he would do better in this race if he didn’t have post position 11. Tough call here!
12 Kingslayer Owned by Double J Stables Ortiz I Jr
He finished third in the AR Derby Grade I and the TAM Derby Grade II. His last win came from the Davis Stakes Grade III. He has great experience with outside posts. Looks good here.
