1 KD The Tapit Stakes
$500.000 3yo&Up 1m 70yds Turf 3yo 119lbs Older 122lbs
The undulating dogleg certainly makes KD a one-of-a-kind place to race… I for one, love it! There should have been a high-end meet here, but that’s for another day. The Tapit Stakes looked like a closely matched group, and Winning Link Stables take the big purse as Tower Isle scores the first stakes win of his lightly raced career… the five-year-old making only his fourth career start, but patience is in the pudding and the gelding knocks down a half-length victory. Buffalo G, the 5/2 post time favorite, closed well in the lane, but the seven-year-old had to settle for the runner-up spot here. It was another quarter length to Rastaban in third, and the same distance back to Peace Pipe in the minor position. Four lengths covered the field of seven, and the 1:36.63 time was a new track record (note, this was the first race ever run at the distance).
